Born and raised in Walsall, West Midlands, where she has been writing songs since she was 11 in 2012, Smith’s friend her record producer Guy has controversially uploaded the cover to YouTube, which led to her discovery. After their first two singles became more widely known, they signed with Sony/ATV in 2016 and released two extended plays during 2016 and 2017. His debut studio album Lost & Found was critically acclaimed in 2018 and peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart.
